July 2018 - present

II use data to answer complex economic questions in high-profile litigation matters. I learn extensively about how to ask good questions with data and how to deliver courtroom-quality, bullet-proof analyses. Through the process, I developed strong competency in R, SQL and SAS.

  • Work in analyst teams (2 to 5 people) to vet and process data, apply analytical and statistical models, present and visualize analysis results, and conduct research

  • Synthesize complex analytical findings and assist case managers in communicating such findings to external non-technical audiences

  • Contribute to formulation of case strategy by identifying data availability and limitations, assessing applicability and feasibility of potential methodologies, and proposing efficient approaches to analyzing available data

Select project experiences:

Arbitration on the liquidation of $20B worth of cryptocurrency:

  • Processed and analyzed large-scale, millisecond-level order book data and trade data to conduct various ad-hoc analyses and statistical models to evaluate impact of large transactions on cryptocurrency prices

  • Created effective visualizations of complex trading scenarios to present important arguments to non-technical audience, including judges and attorneys

 Pharmaceuticals class action litigation:

  • Vetted, transformed and analyzed large datasets from government and healthcare providers to quantify multi-billion damages in public health crisis due to products deceptive marketing

  • Ran various regression sensitivities that led to key rebuttal arguments to complex statistical models underlying damages claim

Firm-development contributions:

  • Process improvement:  Revamped the analysis process of a proprietary annual publication by automating PDF scraping in Python and migrating complex analysis pipeline from Excel to R

  • Recruiting:  Spreadhead recruiting efforts at new target school; interviewed analyst candidates

  • Training:  Gave training sessions to new analysts on best practices and technical skills
